THE COSTA DEI TRABOCCHI
“Costa dei Trabocchi” is considered one of the most fascinating areas of the entire coastal strip, thanks to its quietness and its rich vegetation, its vineyards and secular olives. The coast is variously composed by beaches and coves, both rocky and sandy. Sometimes they are quite hidden, but often large and welcoming and given with eloquent names such as “Beautiful Water” or “Cape Blue”. Moreover “Punta Aderci” is an area of great botanical and geological interest, in addition to being an excellent site for swimming and diving thanks to its crystalline waters.
Here you can find the so called “ trabocchi”, very picturesque and ancient wood structures which fishermen used to build up in the shallow water. Nowadays some of them have become really suggestive fish restaurants where you can enjoy very fresh dishes in a unique atmosphere. Continuing south, in a few minutes you will come to the wide gulf of the city of Vasto, which embodies one of the most popular places for night entertainment with many clubs and discos.
THE TASTE OF ABRUZZO
In Abruzzo you will appreciate an old and strong culinary tradition, usually based on local ingredients provided by the land, as far as the extra virgin oil, whose quality is internationally recognized. The local wine production includes a full bodied red Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, the fragrant rose Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo and the excellent white Pecorino and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo.
You will find that the fish is king in the restaurants of the coast, from appetizers to the first courses, mainly prepared with homemade pasta and soups, and the second courses with roast and fried mixed fish, but is also true that the local cuisine includes many vegetarian and vegan courses, cheeses, and delicious distillates.
